Yamaha Motor Australia in conjunction with Motorcycling Australia have announced the return of the popular one model junior MX experience – the YZ65 Cup.

The event designed for 9 to 12-year olds was introduced in 2018 and has remained a must-ride for keen moto groms. Two rounds have been confirmed at the ProMX national race series at Appin, NSW on 19 March and Toowoomba Motocross Club, QLD on 25 June.

YZ65 Cup is more than a race series, it’s a celebration of motocross designed to offer participants and their families a money-can’t-buy experience, and with unparalleled access to YMA’s professional MX race teams, each YZ65 Cup participant is rewarded with memories that last a lifetime.

“Since its inception in 2018, the YZ65 Cup has provided more than 200 young riders the opportunity to feel what it’s like to be a factory Yamaha rider for the day. We are once again excited to offer this opportunity at two rounds of the 2023 ProMX championship,” explains YMA Head of Marketing Nick Marshall. “The concept of the YZ65 Cup is to provide a fun and stress-free environment for riders of all skill levels with an experience they will never forget. Regardless of if you finish first or last, our aim is for every rider and their parents to leave the track with a massive smile on their face,” 

In a further addition to the incredible line up of ProMX action, QMP will also host the 2nd Round of the Yamaha bLU cRU YZ65 Cup Rounds for the Championship.

Yamaha Australia say they value the safety of all riders and aim to make the YZ65 Cup a fun and rewarding experience for all riders. Prior to submitting an entry, parents are asked to assess their child’s riding skills to determine if they will be comfortable riding in a competitive environment. Accordingly, all riders must have a current MA licence and are asked to submit a resumé.

Rider Criteria:

  • Age category: 9-12
  • Must have current MA licence
  • Must own YZ65
  • Each rider must provide rider resumé
  • Spots are limited
  • Successful applicants must cover race entry fee of $220
  • Entries for both rounds must be submitted by 1 March 2023. All riders will be notified shortly thereafter.
