Superbike Masters to Star at 2025 Australian Motorcycle GP
Australia’s rich motorcycling history will be front and centre once again at the 2025 Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, with the return of the Superbike Masters to the famous Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit from October 17-19.
Celebrating the golden era of superbike racing, the Superbike Masters category showcases iconic race machinery from the late 1970s through to the 1990s — the very bikes that shaped the careers of legendary riders and helped forge Australia’s global racing reputation.
The event holds special significance, marking a return to the same circuit where the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix began in 1989. The Phillip Island round will see the historic Superbikes thunder around one of the world’s most picturesque and challenging circuits across the three-day MotoGP weekend.
Organised in partnership with Motorcycling Australia, the 2025 Superbike Masters demonstration races will feature two sessions each on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. These include a mix of practice, qualifying, and race action, giving fans multiple chances to see these classics in action.
Motorcycling Australia CEO Peter Doyle said the Superbike Masters’ return is a celebration of Australia’s racing roots.“We’re excited to once again bring the sights and sounds of historic Superbikes to Phillip Island as part of the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix weekend,” Doyle said. “These bikes and the stories behind them are a huge part of our racing heritage, and there’s no better place to showcase that than during Australia’s biggest motorcycle racing event of the year.”
Past Superbike Masters events at the Island have attracted significant interest from fans and riders alike, with former champions, renowned privateers, and long-time competitors relishing the opportunity to bring legendary bikes back to life on the track. Machines from iconic manufacturers such as Suzuki, Kawasaki, Honda, Yamaha and Ducati typically feature in the lineup.
In addition to on-track action, the Superbike Masters paddock will be open for fans to get up close to the bikes and chat with the passionate owners and riders who keep them running. More information, including a full list of confirmed riders and machines, will be announced closer to the event.
