Triumph TF 250-X Claims Maiden Hattah Class Victory
Triumph Motorcycles Australia has chalked up a major off-road milestone with the TF 250-X securing its first-ever Hattah Desert Race class win. Ty Kean, riding for the Winner Triumph Australia Racing Team, took out the 250cc 4-Stroke Class at the endurance race held in the red sands of Victoria’s northwest. Press: Triumph
The Hattah Desert Race is one of the toughest and most prestigious off-road events in the country. It’s a brutal four-hour test of man and machine, attracting a deep field of riders from across ProMX, desert racing and enduro. Fast straights, endless sand whoops, and intense dust make it a unique proving ground for bikes and riders alike.
For Triumph and Kean, it was a breakthrough moment. Running a specially modified TF 250-X featuring revised gearing and a long-range Safari tank, Kean rode faultlessly across the rugged terrain to claim a commanding class win—his first at Hattah and a historic debut victory for Triumph’s motocross platform.
“I’m extremely happy to deliver this win for both myself, the Winner Team, and for Triumph Australia,” Kean said. “ProMX has had its ups and downs this year and, honestly, I didn’t have any expectations coming into Hattah other than to have fun and see what we could do with the modified bike for the desert.”
“The team did an incredible job. The bike was super competitive, and we were able win!”
Team regular and 2024 Hattah podium finisher Jack Simpson also entered the event on a privateer Winner Motorcycles TF 250-X and was in the hunt for outright honours. After qualifying second fastest, Simpson ran inside the top five for much of the race before a late collision with a tree caused a minor hand injury and dropped him just outside the top 10 by the finish. A tough result after a strong showing.
With Triumph’s maiden desert win now in the books, the Winner Triumph Australia Racing Team now refocuses on the remaining rounds of the 2025 Penrite ProMX Championship, with the next round set for July 27 in Toowoomba, QLD.
