Kawasaki’s 2026 KLX300 continues the brand’s long dual-sport tradition, offering a proven off-road package with street credentials, designed for the bush and the blacktop...

Kawasaki has revealed the updated 2026 KLX300, a versatile LAMS dual-purpose bike designed to balance off-road capability with daily usability. Introduced in 2021, the KLX300 continues to evolve with fresh styling, a user-friendly engine and friendly chassis.

At the heart of the KLX300 is a 292cc liquid-cooled DOHC single-cylinder engine, producing 19.0kW (26PS) at 8,000rpm and 24Nm of torque at 7,000rpm. The powerplant is tuned for a broad spread of performance, from tractable low and mid-range delivery to a strong pull at the top end. Riders benefit from crisp throttle response thanks to cam profiles borrowed from Kawasaki’s KLX300R play bike.

The bore and stroke measure 78.0 x 61.2mm with a compression ratio of 11.1:1. Kawasaki’s electrofusion cylinder technology ensures durability and efficient heat transfer, while a gear-driven balancer reduces vibration for smoother long-distance riding. A six-speed gearbox and electric start further emphasise ease of use across city commuting, weekend touring, and technical trail riding.

Kawasaki has also engineered improved heat management, with a radiator fan cover guiding hot air away from the rider, enhancing comfort in stop-start traffic

The KLX300 features a box- and tubular-section high-tensile steel perimeter frame, chosen for its combination of strength and slim proportions. An aluminium D-section swingarm contributes to reduced unsprung weight, while the geometry, 26.7° rake and 1,440mm wheelbase, balances agile handling with straight-line stability.

Suspension is handled by a 43mm inverted cartridge-style front fork with adjustable compression damping, paired with Uni-Trak rear suspension featuring preload, rebound, and compression adjustability. With 285mm of travel up front and 289mm at the rear, the KLX300 offers excellent bump absorption and control both on and off-road.

Braking performance comes courtesy of petal discs, with a 250mm twin-piston setup at the front and a 240mm single-piston unit at the rear, offering reliable stopping power across varied terrain. Distinguishing the dual-purpose KLX300 from its supermoto siblings are its 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheels, shod with off-road-ready tyres. Wheel rigidity and tyre choice give the model genuine trail-riding credentials.

The ergonomics have been carefully considered, with a relaxed upright riding position aided by a thickly padded urethane seat. Seat height is set at 935mm, supported by a slim design that allows easier ground reach. Footpegs are placed close to the bike’s centreline, providing a natural stance for both on- and off-road riding.

For 2026, the KLX300 gains fresh KX-inspired styling. The slim new bodywork flows sharply from the compact LED headlamp through to the tail, emphasising its motocross DNA. The dual stacked LED headlight provides excellent illumination while contributing to the bike’s modern look.

Other styling touches include slim shrouds, a two-tone seat, and colour accents that flow through the centre of the bike in true KX fashion. A digital instrument panel offers a clear readout with speedometer, bar-style tachometer, dual trip meters, clock, and a full suite of warning lamps. A new ignition lock with five tumblers enhances security, while the rear fender and taillight design echo Kawasaki’s motocross range for a compact, aggressive finish.

Kawasaki will offer a range of accessories including a convenient rear carrier, hand covers, and a handlebar pad to further tailor the KLX300 for adventure or commuting duties. For 2026, the KLX300 is available in Kawasaki’s iconic Lime Green, reinforcing its off-road heritage.

Weighing in at 137kg wet with a 7.5-litre fuel tank, the KLX300 is designed to be light, nimble, and confidence-inspiring. It blends the practicality of a daily commuter with the excitement of a weekend trail bike. Kawasaki has carefully balanced its engine characteristics, suspension adjustability, and rider ergonomics to appeal to a broad spectrum of riders.

From navigating city streets to exploring backcountry trails, the KLX300 continues to showcase Kawasaki’s dual-purpose ethos. With sporty styling updates, refined rider comfort, and a proven powertrain, the 2026 KLX300 looks set to remain a favourite among those seeking one bike to do it all.
