MotoGP staged a historic evening in Rimini this week, unveiling a brand-new Hall of Fame at the Teatro Amintore Galli. The event gathered some of the biggest names in Grand Prix history to honour past champions, induct new legends, and reveal a striking redesign of the sport’s most prestigious trophy.

A New Chapter for MotoGP:

The Hall of Fame has been created to recognise riders whose names are synonymous with MotoGP and its history. Inductees include icons with the most wins, the greatest success, and those who defined their era. The opening ceremony honoured late heroes such as Umberto Massetti, Geoff Duke, John Surtees, Mike Hailwood, Phil Read and Barry Sheene.

They were joined by a roll call of living legends. Giacomo Agostini, Kenny Roberts, Freddie Spencer, Eddie Lawson, Wayne Rainey, Kevin Schwantz, Mick Doohan, Casey Stoner, Dani Pedrosa and Jorge Lorenzo were all recognised as Hall of Famers. The night reached its crescendo with Valentino Rossi’s induction, the seven-time MotoGP Champion celebrated for his unique role in making MotoGP the global spectacle it is today.

The Tower of Champions Reimagined:

Alongside the Hall of Fame, MotoGP also revealed a new design for the Tower of Champions trophy. The reimagined piece retains its iconic vertical column, now featuring ceramic-coated aluminium with stainless steel plaques engraved with the names of every World Champion. Each plaque, shaped to reflect a rider’s lean angle, lists the champion’s name, manufacturer, number and year — a physical archive of the sport’s history with space for future champions.

Three More Legends to Come:

The celebrations also included an announcement that three more riders will be formally inducted as MotoGP Legends in 2026. These include 1949 Champion Leslie Graham, 1957 Champion Libero Liberati and 1961 Champion Gary Hocking. Their induction will ensure every premier-class World Champion is officially recognised as a Legend.

Looking Ahead:

The Hall of Fame evening was billed as “MotoGP Iconic,” and it delivered. With 23 World Championships and more than 300 Grand Prix victories represented in the room, the event honoured the past while turning an eye to the future.

As the San Marino GP gets underway, attention returns to the present-day heroes. The new Hall of Fame and redesigned trophy stand ready to welcome the next generation of champions.
