E-Racer motorcycles presents two new electric models based on Zero motorcycles. The Edge is based on a Zero SR/F Café Racer and the RUGGED Mk2 is based on the Zero FXS. The two new models add to a growing electric bike range in the motorcycle market for 2020.

Both motorcycles will be in production and ready for sale in Spring of 2020, and both will be available for the price of the base Zero model plus an additional 6,000 euros. The Zero FXS is currently available in the US for $8,995 + ORC (USD) while the SR/F starts from $19,495 + ORC (USD).


E-Racer Edge
The Edge is based on the Zero SR/F Café Racer, with many aesthetic changes made to suit a more minimalist design and create a lighter motorcycle, and some performance and handling changes such as brakes and suspension upgrades.

E-Racer comment that many of the changes made are aesthetic, with a new classic / sport-modern infused livery, a more compact, muscular tank, a custom-made seat and a smaller LED headlight. Superbike semi-handlebars, racing wave brakes, and a rear AirTender suspension system were also added to change the handling and performance, as well as transform the look.

E-Racer RUGGED Mk2
The E-Racer RUGGED was revealed as a prototype built around the Zero FXS at EICMA 2018. E-Racer says that one of the main features of the RUGGED is the auxiliary aluminium frame with side rings to help the bike to be tied, towed or hoisted on boats or utes. The RUGGED appears to be very utilitarian, with E-Racer stating that their upgrade to the motorcycle emphasises the Zero FXS’ purpose as a military purpose motorcycle.

The RUGGED features front and rear LED lights that E-Racer states contain the most advanced LED technologies. The motorcycle will feature an underseat storage compartment, that hosts a double USB socket, and claims to have room large enough for a rain jacket.

The USB sockets have been positioned so that they are not susceptible to bad weather or dirt. The seat is long and flat, and E-Racer claims will seat three people comfortably. The motorcycle is also equipped with twelve small “Eagle Eye” LED lights that allow the rider for a full 360° illuminated view at night, which could be very useful when riding in difficult terrain.

The whole motorcycle has also been treated with “Line X”, which E-Racer boasts as being military grade and “an extremely resistant armour paint”.

E-Racer Audio Feedback System (E-RAF)

Both motorcycles will be equipped with E-RAF, a feature which aims to improve the safety and riding performance. Dual function integrated hardware produces high and low frequency sound waves, which enhances the ability for pedestrians to hear the motorcycle coming, thus improving safety, and giving the rider feedback through a subsonic speaker which produces vibrations that change in relation to the speed of the motorcycle, aiming to give the rider a sensorial feel of the performance and improve the riding experience.
