Kirsten has updated her riding gear with the RJAYS Tracer 2 Air jacket after years of using hand-me-downs! Check out what she thought of the her new riding gear... Words: Kirsten Auditor.

The RJAYS Tracer 2 Air is the first piece of motorcycling gear I’ve owned that was specifically meant for me! It isn’t a smaller jacket of Nick’s, or an old pair of gloves that Dad had in storage, it’s mine. And it’s nice to finally have something that fits perfectly!

Spending most of her time on the back of Nick's bike. Kristen has always used hand-me-down gear, Cassons sorted her out with a new jacket from RJAYS.

Given the fact that it’s the first piece of kit I’ve owned, I don’t have the knowledge to comment on it based on others in the market, I can, however, comment on how it’s been as a first jacket for me. I can safely say, its great!

It hasn’t got quite the use it normally would, as Nick and I only head out maybe twice a week on a ride together. Recently, given the weather, a fair bit less. Regardless, it’s been comfortable, breathable, waterproof and has plenty of storage for the keys, wallets and other accessories Nick inevitably palms off to be before we head off!

As I said, it’s incredibly rare I’ll get a piece of gear that fits me, being 154cm, I’m often in oversized jackets and massive gloves. The Tracer 2 Air however, fits perfectly! Mine is a size 8 (the smallest they offer, they come in sizes 8-18) and the arms and torso length are just right. It’s a snug fit and leaves me feeling far more protected on the back of the bike than I’m used to. The foam rubber back pad and CE Level 2 armour at both the elbow and shoulder are welcome additions for me as a pillion passenger.

The waterproof liner has been put to good use with the rains recently, and as the jacket fits so nicely, I haven’t had the same issues as Nick with the water running down the sides. It’s kept me nice and dry. The Polyester 600D shell and K-492 Mesh are fantastic when I compare them to some of the older jackets I’ve had to wear in the past.

The breeze and airflow are great, and I couldn’t ask for much more. The neoprene collar is a welcome addition and is super comfortable for me. I’m a fan of the hood and have kept it on. It doesn’t get much use on our regular rides, but when it’s bucketing down, I can tuck it under the helmet, and it stops the rain running down by back and sides! It’s also handy off the bike. The adjustments at the waist, forearm and bicep are also a nice touch. I’ve got them right down and tight at the smallest setting and it fits perfectly, I’m really happy about that.

RJAYS offer the Tracer 2 Air in a ‘Ruby Red’ and ‘Grey’ with blue accents and at a RRP of $299.95 I think it’s a bargain. While it will probably be a while before I retire this one, I’ll be looking at the Tracer Air range for my next jacket purchase. If you’re looking for a nice daily jacket, that can contend with the hot sun and severe rains, I’d definitely suggest taking a look. I’m impressed!
