Along with the all-new Leoncino 800 Benelli have released the super cool Benelli Leoncino 800 Trail. Sharing the engine with an impressive 60kW (81.6hp)@9000rpm and torque to 67Nm the Trail has a 19in front wheel, knobby Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres and longer travel suspension front and rear, along with a restyled off-road look.
The specifications are otherwise shared with the Leoncino 800 and are impressive, with the DOHC four-valves per cylinder liquid-cooled engine being fed by 43mm throttle-bodies. The bore x stroke is 88mm x 62mm and compression ratio is 11.5:1. The wet clutch is a slipper item, which is a plus, and the gearbox is a six-speed unit. The exhaust system is a two-into-one with Catalytic converter and Oxygen sensors. Fuel consumption is claimed at 5.9L/100km.
The frame is all-new and is a tubular steel trellis item with cast sideplates, the swingarm is a steel item and the wheels are spoked alloy rims with tubeless 120/70-19 and 170/60-17in tyres.
The forks are 50mm inverted items with adjustable preload, rebound and compression, with 140mm of travel up front. The rear is a single shock with preload and rebound adjustment and 140mm of travel.
The braking system is impressive, dual semi-floating 320mm stainless steel rotors with Brembo four-piston monoblock calipers at the front and a single oversized 260mm rotor with a twin piston caliper at the rear. ABS is featured as standard.
As you can see the styling is completely new compared to the Leoncino 800, with a more off roader/scrambler look, an LED headlight, TFT dash and off road seat. It also features a centrestand.
The 2020 Benelli Leoncino 800 Trail is expected to hit our shores mid 2020. Price TBA.
