Andrea Iannone will join the FIM Harley-Davidson Bagger World Cup
Former MotoGP and WorldSBK race winner Andrea Iannone will join the FIM Harley-Davidson Bagger World Cup from the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello later this month. Iannone will race for Niti Racing, expanding the team’s effort to three bikes. Press: Harley-Davidson Australia.
Iannone will race alongside Oscar Gutiérrez and Dimas Ekky Pratama following a strong opening round at Austin, where Gutiérrez claimed victory in Race 2. The Italian’s arrival increases the Bagger World Cup grid to 10 riders as the inaugural championship continues to build momentum.

One of the most recognisable names in modern motorcycle racing, Iannone brings extensive top-level experience to the series, having previously won races in both MotoGP and the Superbike World Championship. Known for his aggressive riding style and raw speed, the 35-year-old is expected to become an immediate contender despite heading into the Mugello round without testing the race-prepared Harley-Davidson machine.
“I like challenges, especially when they take you out of your comfort zone,” said Iannone. “This is something completely different, and that’s exactly why I said yes.”
“These bikes have a strong personality, you have to respect them, but at the same time you can push them hard. In that sense, we are quite similar.” Iannone admitted he faces a steep learning curve, arriving with less preparation than the rest of the field.
“I’m approaching this first race without having tested the bike, and with one less test than the others,” he said. “That reflects my mindset, I embrace challenges and actively look for them.”
The Mugello round is expected to generate major interest from Italian fans, with Iannone joining compatriot Filippo Rovelli on the grid for the home event. Organisers are also promoting an immersive fan experience including public access to the Bagger World Cup garages, the Harley-Davidson Village and dedicated viewing areas around the circuit.
Niti Racing Team Manager Angela Khuu said adding Iannone was a logical next step after a promising championship debut in Austin.
“We already have a strong base with Oscar and Dimas, and bringing in a rider with Andrea’s experience and speed gives us an additional dimension as a team,” she said.
Harley-Davidson Director of Global Racing Programs Jeffrey Schuessler described the signing as another important milestone for the new championship.
“Bringing a rider like Andrea into the championship is a strong statement about what we are building with the Bagger World Cup,” Schuessler said.
The Italian GP round at Mugello Circuit will take place from May 29–31, with Iannone expected to contest the remainder of the 2026 season through to the Austrian finale.
