Honda unveils heavily updated 2027 CRF motocross range
Honda Motorcycles Australia has announced its 2027 off-road competition motorcycle lineup, headlined by the most significant redesign of the CRF450R in a decade. The new models will arrive in Q4, with further details and pricing to be announced later in the year. Press: Honda Australia MPE.
The new range includes updates across the entire CRF450 and CRF250 competition families, with Honda engineers focusing on improved power delivery, handling and rider confidence following extensive development with HRC factory racing teams.
Leading the charge is the all-new CRF450R, which receives a lighter and more powerful engine alongside extensive chassis and suspension revisions. Honda says the changes deliver more controllable power, enhanced stability and improved overall performance across a wider range of track conditions.
The upgrades also flow through to the premium CRF450R Works Edition (CRF450RWE) and off-road-focused CRF450RX, ensuring the entire 450 platform benefits from the comprehensive redesign. Honda describes the 2027 CRF450R update as the biggest overhaul of the model since the current generation was introduced, reflecting the company’s continued investment in motocross and off-road competition.
The CRF250R, CRF250R Works Edition and CRF250RX also receive updates for 2027, although the changes are more targeted than those applied to the 450 range. Suspension refinements are aimed at improving consistency, rider feel and control while maintaining the strong performance characteristics that have made the quarter-litre models popular with racers.
Honda Australia General Manager – Powersports and Products, Chris Schultz, said the new models reflect Honda’s commitment to building race-winning motorcycles. “Honda’s long-term commitment to off-road riding and performance is exemplified by the biggest overhaul of the CRF450 in a decade,” Schultz said. “Working in collaboration with HRC teams globally, Honda engineers are designing and building bikes that are durable and capable of winning at the highest levels of the sport.”
Honda Australia has confirmed expressions of interest for the CRF450R and CRF450RWE will open during the third quarter of 2026, with the motorcycles expected to arrive in Australian dealerships during the fourth quarter.
In the meantime, Honda is offering a 1 per cent p.a. comparison rate finance offer across selected 2026 CRF competition models, including the CRF250R, CRF250RWE, CRF450R and CRF450RWE.
