Macna's Fugutive winter waterproof gloves prove a great option, offering warmth and good feel. Review: Tony 'Pommie' Wilding
These new Fugitive winter gloves have to be the warmest pair I’ve ever owned, and while some winter gloves by their nature tend to be thick, inflexible, and a bit restrictive, the Fugitive gloves are made from quality goat leather and although they don’t give quite as much feel as say a good sportsbike glove, they’re not far off.
They offer plenty of protection with what Macna calls RISE, it’s a hard shell that’s a sliding pad on the palm that protects the pisiform bone and the area around it, you also get TPR knuckle and finger protection. For weather protection the glove has a Raintex membrane inside the leather and has what’s called a water exhaust, this lets the water that’s trapped between the membrane and the leather escape and does not allow the glove to become water logged.
Another feature I like is the inbuilt screen cleaner; a soft rubber strip has been integrated into the finger and acts like a windscreen wiper. Another clever feature on the Fugitive gloves are Touch tips, this is a conductive fibre in the ends of the fingers that allows you to operate a Smartphone or more importantly a GPS.
I must say this was perfect for me as I work on call and have to stop and check my phone constantly, now I don’t need to keep pulling my glove off and on all the time to do so. All in all I’m really happy with my gloves and can’t fault them.

Great gloves, give them a try!

What temperature range would you suggest using these gloves in? Are they a 3 season, fall-winter-spring glove?

Hey Cliff,
I’d be leaning towards a fall-winter-spring option from current testing. The waterproofing has proven really good, but with the really heavy traffic I get towards home, if it is on the warmer side and I’m not moving consistently I do find I sweat into them a fair bit and they don’t breathe quite so well. If the ambient temperature is cool enough this isn’t an issue though, and we’ve had some really warm days this winter, which are probably closer to summer weather. I also get sweaty hands quite easily, so if you’re not afflicted with that issue you might find them considerably better in the warmer weather!
Out on the open road I don’t think you’d have an issue as a higher average speed and constant airflow should help. As we get consistently warmer days I’ll do an update.
