The 2025 Triumph Scrambler 400 XC arrives in August, priced from $11,490 rideaway, and adds a more off-road-focused flavour to the brand’s LAMS-approved 400cc line-up.

Triumph has added a new off-road-biased variant to its 400cc Modern Classic line-up with the 2025 Scrambler 400 XC, priced from $11,490 rideaway and available from August.

Set to arrive in Australian showrooms this August, the 2025 Triumph Scrambler 400 XC will land from $11,490 rideaway and brings a more rugged, off-road-ready edge to Triumph’s 400cc LAMS-approved Modern Classic line-up.

The XC gains side-laced wire-spoked wheels with lightweight aluminium rims and tubeless tyres, offering a more rugged setup for dirt roads and light trail use. Wheel sizes remain 19-inch front and 17-inch rear, preserving the Scrambler’s familiar stance while improving off-road composure.

Other additions include a colour-matched high-mounted front guard, flyscreen, and handguards for better protection in rougher conditions. Aluminium engine bars and a sump guard are also fitted as standard. Three colour options will be available at launch – Racing Yellow, Storm Grey and Vanilla White – all featuring black tank infills, a black Triumph logo and a matching two-piece seat.

The Scrambler 400 XC pairs its updated styling with a higher-spec chassis and a solid list of standard equipment aimed at real-world adventure riders. Along with the new spoked wheels, the XC rolls on Metzeler Karoo Street tyres – 19-inch front and 17-inch rear – wrapped around lightweight Excel aluminium rims for better performance across mixed terrain. Suspension is unchanged from the 400 X model, with 43mm big-piston USD forks and a piggyback rear shock, both offering 150 mm of travel. Traction control is standard and can be switched off, and the ABS includes an off-road mode for loose surfaces.

The XC carries over the same rider-focused electronics, including a large analogue speedo with integrated LCD screen displaying fuel range, tacho, gear position and more. A bar-mounted scroll button makes menu access straightforward, while a USB-C charging socket sits ready for phones or navigation units. Lighting is all LED, with Triumph’s signature DRL up front, a branded tail-light with moulded guides, and slim, modern indicators. A steering lock and immobiliser are also fitted as standard, with the key’s transponder chip preventing unauthorised starts.

Model highlights

• New Scrambler 400 XC adds more off-road capability to the Scrambler’s rugged style
• New side-laced wire spoked wheels with lightweight aluminium rims and tubeless tyres
• New colour-coded high-level front mudguard and flyscreen provide protection in tough conditions
• Three fresh, contemporary colour schemes – Vanilla White, Racing Yellow and Storm Grey

The Scrambler 400 XC shares its silhouette and styling cues with the larger Scrambler 900 and 1200 models, drawing on Triumph’s off-road heritage stretching back to the 1950s. From the sculpted tank with knee indents to the upswept silencer and triangular engine badge, the XC looks every bit the part of a modern classic with genuine adventure intent.

The finish is typical Triumph – clean, considered and high quality. Highlights include gold anodised forks, black powder-coated engine cases, machined cooling fins and a cast aluminium swingarm. The liquid-cooled engine’s plumbing is neatly hidden to maintain the classic look, while practical touches like the sump guard and wide ’bars reflect the bike’s off-road brief.

With its low weight, accessible seat height and wide handlebar stance, the 400 XC is designed to be easy to manage on rougher ground. The long wheelbase and 150mm of suspension travel help soak up the bumps, while the standing-friendly footpeg position improves off-road ergonomics.
A radial four-piston caliper grabs a 320 mm front disc for strong, predictable braking, and the dual-purpose tubeless tyres combined with switchable traction control and off-road ABS round out a confident, versatile package.

Powering the Scrambler 400 XC is Triumph’s TR-series 398cc single-cylinder engine, producing a claimed 29kW [39.5hp] at 8000rpm and 37.5Nm [27.5 ft-lb] at 6500rpm. It’s the same unit found in the 400 X and Speed 400, tuned for flexible, real-world performance with a broad spread of torque.
The engine runs Bosch engine management with ride-by-wire throttle for smooth, predictable response, while a six-speed gearbox and torque-assist clutch help keep shifting light and rider-friendly. A twin-skin stainless header system feeds into a twin-outlet silencer, giving the XC a purposeful and distinctive exhaust note.

The Scrambler 400 XC will be available through Triumph dealers from August 2025, priced from $11,490 rideaway in Vanilla White, or $11,690 in Racing Yellow and Storm Grey.
Like the rest of Triumph’s 400 range, the XC benefits from 16,000 km service intervals and a two-year, unlimited kilometre warranty, helping to keep running costs down.
More than 20 genuine accessories are available at launch, covering everything from comfort and luggage to styling and security. All accessories are backed by the same factory warranty and can be configured online via Triumph’s official website.

The Triumph Scrambler 400 XC will be available in dealers Australia-wide from August 2025. For more details or to configure your own, head to www.triumphmotorcycles.com.au.
