BMW Motorrad has delivered a major showing at EICMA 2026 in Milan, headlined by the world premiere of the 218hp M 1000 RS hyper naked and the presentation of two new additions to its F 450 family, the F 450 R and F 450 RR, plus some Nurburgring Specials…
The three motorcycles demonstrate BMW’s intention to cater for both ends of the market, from accessible A2-licence machines through to extreme high-performance machinery carrying technology developed through its racing programs.
M 1000 RS – 218hp hyper naked
The headline attraction was undoubtedly the new M 1000 RS, bringing technology derived from BMW’s M 1000 RR superbike into the hyper naked category. The 999cc inline four-cylinder engine produces a claimed 218hp, with BMW quoting an unladen weight of 196kg and a power-to-weight ratio of approximately 1.11hp/kg.
The RS designation stands for Rennsport, referencing BMW’s racing heritage and iconic competition machines including the RS 255 and RS 54. The specification includes carbon-fibre aerodynamic winglets, a full titanium exhaust system, brushed aluminium fuel tank and numerous carbon-fibre components. BMW says the motorcycle has been developed to deliver superbike performance in a naked configuration.
The M 1000 RS represents a significant addition to BMW’s M motorcycle family and was the major world premiere on the company’s EICMA stand.
F 450 R – accessible sporting naked
Joining the existing F 450 GS is the new F 450 R, a lightweight naked motorcycle designed for A2 licence holders, newer riders and those returning to motorcycling. Power comes from a new 420cc parallel-twin engine featuring a 135-degree crankshaft configuration, producing 48hp and 43Nm.

BMW quotes a ready-to-ride weight of 175kg and a seat height of 790mm. Standard equipment includes three riding modes, ABS Pro, Dynamic Traction Control, MSR, Dynamic Brake Control, heated grips, full LED lighting and a 6.5-inch TFT display.
One of the interesting features is BMW’s new Easy Ride Clutch, designed to simplify clutch operation and make the motorcycle more accessible in everyday riding.
F 450 RR – supersport for the A2 category
The fully faired F 450 RR takes the same engine platform and gives it a much sportier interpretation, bringing BMW’s RR styling and riding experience into the A2 category. Producing 48hp and 43Nm, the F 450 RR has a claimed ready-to-ride weight of 177kg. It features a chassis developed specifically for sporting use, 17-inch wheels, supersport geometry and a more committed riding position.
Styling draws heavily on the S 1000 RR, with aerodynamic winglets, asymmetrical fairings and a race-inspired front end. Standard equipment includes Race mode, ABS Pro, Dynamic Traction Control, Dynamic Brake Control, MSR and a 6.5-inch TFT display. An optional Riding Modes Pro package adds Race Pro mode and a lap timer.
With the arrival of the R and RR, the F 450 family now comprises three distinct models, joining the previously introduced F 450 GS adventure motorcycle.
Special editions, concepts and racing
BMW also displayed its three M Nürburgring Limited Edition motorcycles, based on the M 1000 RR, M 1000 R and M 1000 XR. Each is limited to 100 examples worldwide and features exclusive Nürburgring Green paintwork, anniversary detailing and premium M components, celebrating the circuit’s 100th anniversary in 2027.
The striking K 18 Concept, first shown at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, also featured, offering a dramatic interpretation of a large boxer-powered touring motorcycle. Completing the display was BMW’s FIM Endurance World Championship-winning M 1000 RR race machine, highlighting the connection between its international racing programs and production motorcycles.
Looking ahead, BMW Motorrad also outlined plans for a new generation of supersport models, another addition to the GS family and the commencement of production of the forthcoming R 20, developed from the well-received R 20 Concept. With the M 1000 RS showcasing the extreme end of BMW’s performance ambitions and the F 450 family opening the door to a new generation of riders, BMW Motorrad had plenty to celebrate at EICMA 2026.
