The Segway Powersports test day started off with a nice drive up to Seven Hills, Tallarook, Victoria. On arrival I was greeted by one of the Segway Powersports staff members in the UT10 CREW to give me a lift down to the location of the media launch. Once everyone arrived, we had the presentation of Segway Powersports new and impressive line-up. After the presentation and hearing all the information on the range, it was time to put a helmet on and take them for a spin.

First up was the AT6 L FULL SPEC, which is the larger of the ATV’s that Segway Powersports has to offer.

2024 AT6
First up was the AT6 L FULL SPEC, which is the larger of the ATV’s that Segway Powersports has to offer. My first impression on the AT6 is that compared to the AT5 it is larger in size, as well as more comfortable because of the riding position and the seat, which made the AT6 feel great.

As I hadn’t ridden an ATV for a while, I had to familiarize myself with the controls. The Segway AT6 and AT5 are automatic so it made them very easy to get the hang of. The AT6, with it’s whopping 570cc/44hp, packs a punch and allows you to tackle any terrain with ease.

On one of the steep inclines, I managed to get myself into a position which gave me the perfect opportunity to test out the front mounted winch, which is rated to 1,130kg. I have to say I was very impressed at how simple and user friendly it was, with a simple lock and unlock dial on the winch and its bar mounted controls. I was out of the tricky position within minutes.

After a full lap on the circuit that was set out, I was able to test out everything the AT6 has to offer. The AT6 comes with a bar mounted easy to use wheel locking system that allows you to change between open or locked 2WD and 4WD drive with a click of a button to pair with an indicator on the display unit to make it clear what drive you are in.

Being able to change the drive type so easy made it possible to tackle all the different parts of the circuit form the steep inclines to the tights twisty loamy sections. The oil shocks with adjustable preload paired with the four disc brakes and power steering gave the AT6 very good handling as well as a very smooth and comfortable ride.

Next up was the AT5 L EPS. The AT5 L EPS is slightly smaller in overall size compared to the AT6 but it did not disappoint.

2024 AT5
Next up was the AT5 L EPS. The AT5 L EPS is slightly smaller in overall size compared to the AT6 but it did not disappoint. It has the longer wheelbase of the AT5 models and comes with a 499cc four-stroke motor, all the power you need to tackle any terrain.

Equipped with oil suspension with adjustable preload, four disc brakes and power steering, the AT5 handled very well throughout the entire course. With the smaller size of the AT5, I found it much easier to tackle the tight and twisty sections of the circuit.

The AT5 also comes with the same ‘bar mounted wheel locking system as the AT6, which allows you to change between 2WD and the 4WD with ease.

After riding one of the top models in the AT5 lineup, I also got the chance to ride the base model, the AT5 S RUGGED. Still offering the same 499cc powerplant and oil suspension with adjustable preload. The main differences are that the AT5 S RUGGED comes with three disc brakes (two front, one rear), no power steering and no winch system.

I found even though it only comes with three brakes it still has plenty of stopping power. But I did feel that without the power steering it was quite difficult to handle in the tight and twisty sections of the circuit. The handling did get a little easier once in 4WD, but you still had to be a little firmer. That didn’t stop me from enjoying a comfortable and smooth ride.

Dan got the opportunity to be a passenger in the UT10 CREW and get a full rundown from one of the crew members.

UT10
Whilst I was waiting for my chance to jump in the UT10, I got the opportunity to be a passenger in the UT10 CREW and get a full rundown from one of the Segway Powersports crew members. The UT10 CREW comes with a 1000cc DOHC liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder four-stroke motor. The CREW has a seating capacity of six people including the driver and comes with oil shocks with adjustable preload, four-wheel disc brakes, rear tipper tray and a winch rated to 2,040kg.

Soon it was my time to get in the UT10 two door. The UT10 comes with the same motor as the UT10 CREW, four-wheels disc brakes, adjustable oil shocks, rear tipper tray with 680kg payload, a winch, various door options to suit a variety of needs.

For the first half of the circuit, I got to feel what the UT10 is like as a passenger. Offering a comfortable, smooth and safe ride with some easy to reach handles in case you feel the need to hold on through any rough terrain, a perfect little rig to get around the farm on.

After half the circuit as a passenger, I got the chance to drive the UT10. What more can I say other than I thoroughly enjoyed it. The UT10 is smooth and comfortable to drive and offers an Economy or Sports mode if you feel like changing the throttle deliverance for some trickier terrain. Everything the UT10 offers made handling anything the circuit threw at us with ease.

Overall, I found the entire Segway Powersports lineup amazing as they offer both comfort and power in every class whether it be the ATV or the UTV. With the capability to tackle any tasks in front of you. I was very impressed with the UT10 and was surprised at how much fun it was to drive.

I am also excited and looking forward to the future of Segway Powersports with the release of their sportier VILLIAN UTV, which unfortunately was not at the media launch.
