The DRIRIDER RallyCross Pro 3 Pants are an Aussie designed adventure overpant packed with features. Here is our review...

Alongside the highly impressive DRIRIDER RallyCross Pro 3 jacket, I also tested out a set of the RallyCross Pro 3 pants, which are designed along the same lines, with 600D Ripstop outshell, with heavier duty 1200D knee construction, and 1680D inner leg material.

DRIRIDER Rallycross Pro 3 Pants are an overpant so don’t have a thermal liner but are designed to fit over gear and have a waterproof liner as well.

Unlike the jacket these pants don’t include a thermal lining, instead just featuring just the waterproof lining, however being an overpant and designed for adventure and dual-sport the thermal lining seems a little less necessary, and having ridden in cold conditions they were plenty warm enough with just the waterproof liner.

Quite a wide legged pant these are designed to allow for knee armour and larger off-road or adventure boots, like the Sidi Adventure 2 Gore-Tex boots I’ve been testing, while also featuring adjusters at the waist and lower leg, plus a zip and Velcro enclosure at the ankle, designed to accommodate various boot sizes.

Remove that waterproof liner and there’s a mesh liner for general comfort, while the pant itself features six air vents and two external pockets. Ingeniously the outer pockets are diagonally across the thigh, making them super easy to access even with gloves on, with a set of vents behind these pockets.

The other two sets of vents are on the knees and outer leg, and if you’re getting a bit warm it’s easy to throw those open on the run and get some additional airflow, although you’ll want the waterproof liner out for the full effect.

There’s good adjustability at the waist too, with it proving easy to get the pants tight enough that they’ll stay in place, which in part comes down to that silicon grip area.

I am really impressed by the RallyCross Pro 3 pant, which offer great comfort and protection, proving warm enough for the freezing cold mornings, and still breathing well when the day gets warm and the going gets tough.

Being winter I have never found a need to remove the waterproof liner for better airflow but having that there for the warmer months is definitely important, while the waterproof liner also ensures you’re ready for any weather.

The other area where the RallyCross Pro 3 pants really stand out is in that getting them on over the knee armour is easy, with a design clearly optimised to accommodate this kind of gear, which also means if you added another layer or two underneath, you’ll never have an issue, whether that’s just a pair of Kelvar lined jeans with CE knee armour, or something more substantial like the Fly Racing Five Pivot Knee Armour I wear.

For $249.95 the DRIRIDER RallyCross Pro 3 pant isn’t cheap, but that’s also typical of a good touring overpant with this level of features, while the overall design of this pant really shows that motorcyclists are involved in the design process.

Everything just works, fits and does the job right, and while lacking the mesh that offers the jacket a bit more flexibility when it gets really hot, the vents will ensure these work as well in summer as you can expect, with warmer winter days already showing that overheating isn’t a massive concern.

I’d highly recommend the DRIRIDER RallyCross Pro 3 Jacket and Pant combo for anyone doing plenty of commuting, touring or dual-sport or adventure riding in winter because they are doing the job exceptionally for me.
